How to Set Up Yahoo Email on Microsoft Outlook

Yahoo mail is one of the earliest email services for common users. If your Yahoo account is professional then one should try the Outlook application to manage the constant flow of emails. Microsoft Outlook is primarily an email client, it also includes such functions as calendaring, task managing, contact managing, note-taking, journal logging, and web browsing. You can even have multiple accounts in Outlook.



This blog explains how to add your Yahoo Mail account to Outlook for Microsoft 365, Outlook 2019, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013, and Outlook 2010. First of all you need to enable the following option to allow yourself to log in to your Yahoo account from non-Yahoo apps and devices. Follow the below steps to configure the Yahoo account in Outlook.

  • Login to your Yahoo account.
  • Go to your account icon and click Account info.
  • Go to Account Security and enable the option ‘Allow apps that use lesser secure sign-in.’
  • If two-factor authentication is enabled in Yahoo, then you need to create a new app-password to access the yahoo account from different app to do this-
  • In the Account Security, select ‘Generate app password.’.
  • Choose Outlook desktop from the drop-down menu. Then click the Generate button.
  • Copy the password to use in Outlook. Click Done.
Configure Yahoo Mail in Outlook 
  • In Outlook, click File in the toolbar. Then go to Info and click Add Account.
  • Input your Yahoo account and click Connect.
  • Input the password of your Yahoo account and click Connect.
  • Your account is added successfully. Click Done and start accessing your Yahoo emails in Outlook.
