Can People Still Message Me If I Log Out Of My Messenger App?

Messenger, Facebook’s private-messaging app, makes it easy to stay in touch via texts, video chats, or group conversations. Facebook decided to make Messenger its own stand alone app. Which means our Facebook Messenger doesn’t have a log out button like the original Facebook app, which can be annoying for a large number of users. However, Facebook Messenger can also be a bit of a troublemaker, falsely claiming you are online when you are not. It's something like the message is saved to server (Facebook account) and messenger app will fetch the data from that to you. When you log back into Facebook/messenger , the notification will appear at the top.
